It has been a long time coming…but Ms. Berta Pinder’s home is finally becoming a reality! Terel, her son, came through with his part of the deal and laid the families new foundation as well as provided materials for our volunteers…and the walls went up this week!
Our first two sets of volunteers that helped Terel came through our semiannual Fly-In and Help-Out events in 2008. The first helped lay the rebar for the footers and the second helped finish off Hand mixing the concrete to pour the floor/foundation. Once Terel furnished the lumber for the walls our United Methodist Volunteers in Missions team from Wilson, North Carolina got to work! They made a lot of progress in just three days and gave the Pinder’s a much needed boost for their new home. Family and community members have joined the momentum and are already lending their time and energy to get this family in their new home.
We will need a lot more hands to keep the momentum going to complete the home and would love to have you come join us in this beautiful partnership between the Pinder’s and BMH.
