B-DAY PARTY
FARM BIRTHDAY PARTIES are for all ages at Winterpast Farm in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This ten acre fully fenced family farm is located at the end of Six Forks road at Falls Lake. Convenient to Durham, Raleigh, Wake Forest and surrounding towns. A whole lot closer than the zoo!

NOTE: Farmer Mary can arrange to bring small animals to your home party. ”Bunny Parties” are especially popular, with all size and colors of bunnies to hold and feed. Other animals who have attended home parties include baby goats, baby lambs, baby chicks and other poultry.

Bring your friends and family to help celebrate your birthday at the farm. Unlimited number of guests and lots of fun for all ages. Grandma can sit in the shade, big brother can fly a kite or kick a football in the ten acre pasture, baby brother can nurse in the house or stack up rocks and pinecones. Farm games include sack races, egg hunts, llasso the (stuffed) farm animals…
FARM PARTY is $300 (as of April 15, 2012) for approximately two and a half hours. Friends gather to feed the animals including llama, pony, pigs, ducks, peacocks, goats, sheep, emu and chickens. You can ask your guests to clear out their frig and cupboards to bring food for the animals including crackers, bread, cereal, cut up fruit and veggies. Then, enter the barnyard to meet and pet all the animals.
As of April 2012 the animals include “Lucky” the llama, “Yana” the baby goat, “Oscar Lulu” and “Emily” the emu, “James” and “Juliet Louise” the lambs and “Valentine” the sheep, “Joseph” and “Rachel” and “Justin Beiber” the peacocks, “Big Mama” the pig with her children “Petunia” and “Petie”, a huge variety of chickens (ask Farmer Mary why they’re all named “Bob”) and baby chicks, baby bunnies, and a variety of ducks and ducklings. At different times of year the baby goats and lambs like being bottle fed. Check the winterpastfarm page on Facebook for up to date details about babies at the farm.
Farmer Mary suggests you ask everyone to wear denim or overalls and that you give each guest a bandana to wear(nice cotton ones in all colors available for $1 at Walmart) -makes for fantastic photos and can serve in lieu of a goody bag later.
Usually the group takes a tour of the whole farm, walking the pasture and woods. Sometimes animals walk with us looking at woodpecker holes and other signs of animal life. Sometimes we find a turtle or an emu nest. Huge green eggs that look like dinosaur eggs are a fun suprise in the winter. We’re hoping one year the Daddy emu will set on them long enough to hatch!
The entire 10 acres is fenced and there are paths along the fence line. See the tree that was hit by lightning and lived. Huge black tubes are available for rolling up and down hills, or turn them on their end and they turn into a climbing wall! It’s hard to get the kids away from those tubes once they figure out how to roll themselves inside.
Walk back to the party spot and it’s time for the donut game. Little donuts are tied to strings hung from a rope between two trees. Children hold their hands behind their backs and try to eat the donut.

Parents and friends are welcome take photographs or enjoy time in the woods and pasture and front yard where most of the baby animals are located.
On chilly days, parties can move indoors to the Great Room where there’s lots of space, swings, a climbing wall, baby animals and plenty of chairs for grownups. Cupcakes or cakes and drinks, gifts, can be handled indoors or out. A bathroom down the hall is available for handwashing. Farmer Mary always has wipes and hand sanitizer available after petting animals. There is also a sink with hot water at the barn.
FARM BIRTHDAY PARTY is great for any age child. We have hosted parties for one year olds up to an evening bonfire party for a forty year old’s party!
Feel free to bring a balloon to put on the mailbox by the road or to set up party tents in the front yard ahead of time. Hoses and sprinklers are available if you want water fun. Water balloons are a big hit on hot summer days.
Farmer Mary suggests you set up a date and time soon to come visit the farm (for free) and talk about your party plans.

Meet Nelson and decide what activities you’d like for your party. If it rains the party can either be rescheduled or it can move indoors after a barn tour and can be changed to a farm party with animals being brought into the house for children to meet and pet and hold…probably not a llama or pony-those can be met and petted in the barn! Baby goats, bunnies, ducklings and chicks love to be petted and picked up. New bunnies like petting and with several pairs, Farmer Mary thinks there will be no shortage of baby bunnies in the future!
You bring the birthday cake (or cupcakes seem popular these days), drinks, ice, snacks, donuts for the donut game, any food -ice cream cakes can stay in Farmer Mary’s freezer. You can do a cookout if you can provide a grill. Several picnic tables are available and pretty table cloths can be provided. Farmer Mary has lots of trays, serving spoons and knives etc…
Optional-bandanas and/or straw or cowboy hats for the kids, tablecloths (farmer Mary has some) Some people like to have egg hunts with little plastic farm animals or candy in the eggs. Farmer Mary and her children can hide the eggs (or how about plastic bugs or lizards? Check the dollar stores and Target’s dollar aisle for great ideas) along the forest path if you like. Pinatas can be hung from one of the large trees in the front yard.
